Like depression, anxiety is a normal feeling.  When faced with a new situation it is normal to feel anxious. You might feel jittery, sweaty, tense, or have butterflies in your stomach. These sensations decrease as you become more comfortable in the situation. If your worries start to affect day to day living, then you may have an anxiety disorder.

There are many types of anxiety disorders. Anxiety can be characterized by: feelings of panic, sweating, fast breathing, jittery, weak, sensing danger, increased heart rate, or shortness of breath. You may feel the need to avoid certain places, objects or social situations. In order to cope with anxious feelings you might perform certain rituals or acts to help control persistent thoughts. If any of these are affecting you, you may benefit from counselling.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss your concerns.
